I think Mom's were a little darker than what is pictured here, but this does bring back memories of family dinners. They were a staple in the winter time, and yes, we had brown bread as well. She even had the classic bean pot to make them in. Mom always made her own and they were good. I don't think we ever had canned baked beans when I was a kid. The biggest variation seems to be the amount of sugar that is added, either in the form of brown sugar, ketchup, or molasses. Most people like to doctor up the beans a bit. Hot dogs and beans can be as easy as opening the can of beans, pouring into a pot and adding hot dogs. Today's meal is another blast from the past. For a phone call follow up, the earliest date was April 19th. To go into the office for the follow up, the earliest date was April 25th. I am having an MRI on March 16 just so we can figure out what is going on and had to set up a follow up appointment. One was to set up a phone call with my spine doctor. I had meetings yesterday and spent the rest of the time making phone calls. Not much planned today except the pool and a haircut. Temps should get to low 40s, which is better than low 20s. Been to Durban just once on Crystal Serenity (2014) although I was scheduled to return in 2020 on QM2. We had a fantastic proofreader in my office when I was working, and working women deserve a lot of credit, as do those who work taking care of a home and family.
